Where Do I Apply To Graduate With My Master's, Specialist's or Ph.D. Degree?

Master's, ED.S. Or Ph.D. Degree Applicants

Your application for a Master's, Ed.S or Ph.D. degree (click here to download now) must be received at the appropriate destination point by the deadline listed on the cover sheet of the application. You are responsible for checking with your college for additional graduation requirements and application deadlines. (The College of Engineering, for example, requires all engineering students to apply for graduation one term prior to their anticipated graduation term. Necessary forms and instructions can be obtained by clicking here). In order for your degree statement to appear on your student academic record, an application for degree must be submitted whether you plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

If you do not qualify for the Graduate Degree, you must submit a new graduation application by the deadline in the term you will meet the requirements for your degree.

Other Important Information for Master's, ED.S. Or Ph.D. Applicants:

I Grades: It is your responsibility to clear all "I" - incomplete grades earned after Summer Term 1992 prior to graduation. Please refer to the USF Graduate Catalog for additional information concerning "I" grades.

Current Term Courses: Notify your college of any change or error in your schedule for the current term, including any adds/drops or withdrawals. Contact the Office of the Registrar if your name does not appear on a class roll for a course in which you believe you are registered.

Diploma Name: This name must be consistent with USF student records. A change of name must be submitted on an official Name Change Form (click here to download now) with substantiating documents and attached to the Graduation Application if the name to be listed on the diploma is different than in your student records. It is critical that upper/lower case letters, accents, and punctuation be clearly indicated on the form.

Diploma Address: Diplomas will be mailed approximately eight weeks after the graduation date to your diploma address (number 3 on the application). This delivery date may be adjusted due to University closure.

Financial Obligations: Financial obligations must be cleared prior to graduation or your diploma will be held upon request of the Cashier.

NSDL Loans: An exit interview is required. The Office of Finance and Accounting will prevent receipt of your diploma for failure to comply with this requirement.

Multiple Degrees: Applying for two degrees concurrently? You must submit a separate application for each degree.

Transcripts: Transcripts with degree statements will be available approximately six weeks after graduation. There is a per copy fee for transcripts. See How Can I Request My Transcript?

Master's, ED.S. Or Ph.D. Degree Recipients Commencement Information:

Commencement Ceremonies: Graduate student may not participate in Commencement exercises until all requirements for the degree have been met. For ceremony information contact the USF Commencement Office.

Privacy: If you have placed your student academic records on privacy with the Registrar's Office and wish to participate and be listed in the commencement brochure, you must notify the Registrar's Office in writing by the fourth week of the term your degree will be awarded.

Honors: Graduate students are not recognized for academic honors at graduation.

Registration: A Commencement postcard containing ceremony times and dates, cap and gown details and other pertinent information will be mailed to your permanent address approximately three weeks after the graduation application deadline.
